Paul's Fishing Kites uses the highest quality nylon for the mainline and kiteline on these rigs.
This is because we have found over the years that it needs to be very hard wearing and abrasion resistant. The nylon we use provides years of maintenance free fishing on both the east coast and west coasts. To retain full breaking strain of the nylon we use the latest in commercial fishing technology,
pre-stoppered nylon.
The 115kg pre-stoppered nylon hook section is inserted into the 100kg mainline using a crimped join protected by a plastic sleeve. The stoppers are flexible and are spaced at 2 metre intervals.
NOTE: Unlike knotted or crimped mainline hook sections, the pre-stoppered nylon retains its full breaking strain and is an ideal option for existing kite or kontiki fishers who wish to convert their gear to the running trace method.
Paul's Fishing Kites complete Bottom Longline Rigs are supplied with 26 complete pre-tied traces. The maximum number of hooks currently allowed per longline in New Zealand is 25 per line. This means you have one spare trace at all times.
Portability of the rig is also an important factor for those without four wheel drive vehicles, particularly with our larger Bottom Longlines and Dropper Rigs.
The PVC carry case supplied with complete rigs offers total safety for the kites carried within. The line weights are clipped to a cord at the lower end of the carry case and the complete rig becomes a sturdy compact unit which is easy to carry to your favorite fishing spot. |
