A good clear sandy beach which can easily be kitefished using any system. Omaha fishes best in a northwesterly wind, when good tacking skills are required.
Omaha can also fish well in west to southwest winds if a northerly or easterly swell is running,
the water is discoloured after rain or at the change of light.
Firm fresh baits needed here. Fresh mullet or flesh baits such as bonito soaked in tuna oil and tied on with cotton or bait elastic works extremely well here. A tedious job, but the local kitefishers at Omaha swear by it.
A boat ramp at the northern end of the beach sees quite a bit of traffic over the summer months so it pays to steer clear of this during those times. Watch for boats near the harbour entrance and check for crab pot floats before you set. Crab pot float
lines can break your line.
Crabs can be a nuisance at times.
